OLATHE, Kan. -- Johnson County, Kansas is once again storm ready.
Officials with the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill, Missouri awarded the county the honor for being storm ready for 2009 through 2012.
The county received the honor for their proactive approach to improving local hazardous weather operations.
The county's public awareness program helps save lives and property before and during a severe weather event.
"We are proud to have earned this unique designation," said Nick Crossley, Director of Johnson County Emergency Management and Homeland Security.
Johnson County is the
27th jurisdiction designated as storm ready by the local National Weather Service office in Pleasant Hill.
