KANSAS CITY, Mo. – If you need a place to cool down during the hot days this week, you can visit several cooling centers in Kansas City and around the metro area.
An excessive heat advisory is in effect for the entire NBC Action News viewing area with high temperatures expected in the mid-90s and heat indices near 110 degrees. NBC Action Weather Meteorologist Jeremy Nelson says a heat warning will be in effect for Tuesday and Wednesday. With such high temperatures, it is important to stay cool this week.
The Salvation Army will activate its eight metro community centers Tuesday as cooling centers. The cooling centers will be open from 8 a.m. until at least 5 p.m. Complimentary cold drinks and light snacks provided along with a comfortable place to relax and rest.
