The summer’s strongest cold front will clear out the humidity later today.
Ahead of a front, the NBC Action Weather Team is tracking a disturbance that brings a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon.
While not expected to be severe, the rain and thunder could bring heavy rain and dangerous lightning.
Once the rain and cold front pass through the metro, a broad area of high pressure will settle in for the weekend.
Expect temperatures to be in the upper 70s or low 80s this weekend with low humidity.
