National Archives Collects Donations for Toys for Tots

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Archives is collecting new, unwrapped toys for children to benefit the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program. Toy donations can be dropped off through Saturday, Dec. 19, at the National Archives at 400 W. Pershing Road.

Thousands of toys are collected by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program during October, November, and December of each year. The toys are then distributed as Christmas gifts to children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.

The National Archives at Kansas City is one of 13 facilities nationwide where the public has access to federal archival records. Its home to more than 50,000 cubic feet of historical records dating from the 1820’s to the 1990’s created or received by nearly one hundred U.S. agencies.

The Kansas City office of the National Archives, located at 400 W. Pershing Road, is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for exhibits viewing, and Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for research.
