KANSAS CITY, Mo. – It will not be confetti, but dollar bills that will fall from the roof at the KC Live! Stage on New Year’s Eve.

Power and Light Officials say they will use money cannons to shoot 5,000 $1 bills down to the crowd.

On Tuesday, crews tested the money cannons and a Times Square-like ball that will fall during the celebration.

It weighted more than 100 pounds and includes more than 400 lights.

District officials say while they expect some chaos, it will not be anything that can not be handled.

"We certainly want to have controlled chaos, we want to have a wonderful and controlled atmosphere with live music and live entertainment here in the live block,” said Kevin Battle, Chief Operating Officer of the Power and Light District.

In addition to the money, there will be live music and entertainment.

The festivities begin at 8 p.m. Thursday night and continue until 2:30 a.m. Friday.

There will be free parking near the Power and Light District, as well as $2 parking inside the KC Live! Garage.
