Missouri Southern No Confidence Vote Set for Monday

JOPLIN, Mo. - The entire faculty at Missouri Southern State University will consider a no-confidence vote against the Joplin school's president Monday.

The vote comes after the faculty senate passed a no-confidence vote against Bruce Speck in October.

A faculty group has lodged 23 complaints against Speck describing what it calls failures of leadership and management.

But Speck says he can't think of any decision that he has made that has been unilateral since becoming president last year.

He notes that he curbed the president's power and announced an "open door" policy.

The school's board of governors renewed Speck's contract in September. But the members also said he needs to "renew efforts to improve relations with the faculty."
