Metro Educator Named Top Foreign Language Teacher

LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. - A Lee's Summit teacher has been named Missouri's top foreign language educator.

The Foreign Language Association of Missouri selected Lee's Summit West High School French teacher Julie Begnaud as its Missouri Distinguished Educator for 2009. It is the association's top award, and it was presented Oct. 24 at the Lake of the Ozarks.

"Mrs. Julie Begnaud represents the best of best practices in world language teaching and learning," said Carrol J.Lund, FLAM president. "We in FLAM are so pleased to present her as our current Distinguished Educator."

Bergnaud has taught in the Lee's Summit R-7 school district for nine years.
