CLAY COUNTY, Mo. – Things are pretty tight inside the Clay County Justice Center.

But in order to assess just how much space the staff there needs, the county is forking over nearly $100,000 for a study.
Clay County is growing and is estimated to reach 210,000 people by the year 2010. That means the court needs to hire an associate court judge.

More offices will likely have to be added in order to accommodate the expansion. A courtroom may also have to be added. The study takes around seven months to complete. But first the county must approve the funding for the study to move forward.

A decision is expected in the next few weeks.
