TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — A Kansas couple has sold a 1946 Volkswagen Beetle, a vehicle some believe is the oldest from that company left in the state.
Mark Merrill is from northern California and collects Volkswagens
Marcella Briery was the original owner of the 1946 Volkswagen Beetle. Briery purchased the car 63 years ago in Germany at the close of World War II and brought it here.
Briery said the foreign car stood out among most other cars in Topeka.
Merrill owns more than 30 Volkswagens.
