TOPEKA, Kan. -- Court employees received a letter today announcing less revenue means budget cuts at the
Kansas Supreme Court.
The letter states analysts estimate revenues will be down $235 million from what was expected in April.
That means budget cuts for the court system from the state's general fund, which mostly funds salaries and benefits for court employees.
To deal with budget cuts, court employees are now expecting a hiring freeze, elimination of temporary part-time hours.
They also expect a significant drop in using retired judges.
