HAYS, Kan. (AP) — A Kansas man has finished a city mural after more than two decades of work.
Artist Bruce Burkholder's 8-by-10 mural reflects its title: History holds the future.
It's a collection of 17 smaller paintings of historical scenes.
Among the paintings is a crystal ball, showing the skyline of Hays, a painting reflecting a photograph Burkholder took about four years ago.
Much of the time, he worked on the mural in between a full time job and other painting projects. It wasn't until a couple commissioned him to finish the project that he was able to return to painting full time.
Tentative plans call for it to be hung in a spot where the public can view it.
