RAYMORE, Mo. – A 35-year-old man was found dead of a gunshot wound Sunday afternoon in a rural portion of Cass County.
According to reports, deputies responded to the 1100 block of N. Lyne just before 2 p.m. Sunday to find the man, Steven E. Lawrence, in the front yard suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Lawrence was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office said investigators spoke to witnesses in the area who reported a white Ford F-250 regular cab truck leaving the area shortly after the shooting. Witnesses said the truck was driven be a female.
Late Monday morning, police reported they found the truck abandoned on E. 215th Street, east of 291 Hwy and north of Harrisonville, Mo.
Police also took a woman into custody for questioning. Her name has not yet been released and no charges have been filed.
