CLAY COUNTY, Mo. -- Clay County prosecutors on Monday charged a man with attempted forcible rape at a local casino.
Manoxay Salivanh, 37, is accused of attempting to rape a 23-year-old female at Ameristar Casino in Kansas City on Nov. 1, 2009.
According to court documents, the victim was walking towards her car in the casino parking lot when she was approached by Salivanh and began to ask her "Do you want to hook up, and go to my car?"
The victim said no and started to walk back to the stairwell to look for her boyfriend inside the casino when Salivanh grabbed her and shoved her into a corner of the stairwell. The victim tried to get away from Salivanh when he held her against the wall and attempted to kiss her and place his hands down her jeans.
Authorities said at that moment, the victim started screaming and someone on the 3rd floor of the parking garage heard the scream and came around to try and find the source of the scream. Salivanh got up and took off on foot.
Salivanh was arrested on Nov. 8, 2009 when he was observed on the casino floor wearing the same clothing the night of the attempted rape.
Salivanh is expected to be arraigned in court on Tuesday.
