KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Hours after a 77-year-old Lafayette County man and his four sons made their first court appearance on charges of multiple sex crimes against children, a sixth man was arrested in connection to the allegations.

Investigators say a tip called into the TIPS Hotline led them to Larry Kidd, 55, from Kansas City.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says Kidd was arrested Thursday night without incident in Jackson County on charges of rape of a child less than 14. He was released on Friday. Authorities say he is cooperating with police.

The patrol describes Kidd as an "associate" of Burrell Mohler, Sr., and his four sons, who were all arrested Tuesday, but no indication was made as to how the men knew each other or if Kidd's alleged crimes occurred in the same time frame as the accusations detailed in court documents explaining the charges - which took place between 1988 and 1995.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the Lafayette County Sheriff conducted a search for glass bottles with notes about the alleged crimes written by the victims. Investigators also said they had reason to believe a body may turn up, but nothing had been found as of Friday morning.
