KCK Man Sentenced for Deadly Drunk Driving Accident

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- A Kansas City, Kan., man was sentenced to 52 months in prison for a deadly drunk driving accident.

Thirty-three yearold Howard Lewis, Jr. was convicted of involuntary manslaughter for the death of Waynedale Avery.

In the early morning hours on Jan. 8, 2007 Avery was a passenger in the car driven by Lewis that crashed into a utility pole on westbound Parallel Parkway, west of Victory Drive.

Police say Lewis's blood alcohol level was .14, well past the legal limit of .08.  Investigators concluded the car was speeding.
