LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. – A prisoner is back in police custody after escaping from a Lee’s Summit hospital.

James Fannin, 21, was taken to St. Luke’s East from Brice Corrections in Holden, Mo. after complaining about unknown medical issues Sunday evening. Around 7:30 pm, he escaped from custody, heading south on foot from the hospital.

Police caught Fannin around 11:00 pm Sunday across the street from the hospital, near the Hampton Inn on NE Douglas St. in Lee’s Summit.

Fannin was originally arrested Saturday evening on charges of stealing and receiving stolen property. Before escaping the hospital, those charges had been reduced to misdemeanors. Police haven't released what charges Fannin will face after his escape.
