ST. LOUIS – The rough economic times have claimed another bank in the region.
Gateway Bank of St. Louis was acquired Friday night by Central Bank of Kansas City after the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation finally pulled the plug on the St. Louis bank.
According to the FDIC, Gateway Bank has been under close watch since 2006 due to credit risk problems and lending practices.
The change in ownership will not affect Gateway customers’ access to funds.
