FRESNO, Calif. – Some students at Fresno City College claim that their health science teacher is using the Bible as a textbook. They are feeling cheated out of an education.

David Chenot, a student at the college who takes a health class taught by Professor Bradley Lopez describes what he hears in the class as, "Socio-political-religious...” and, “Anything but health."

Lopez has come under fire for presenting religiously-based views as science or fact.

Jacqui Mahaffey, a 24-year-old student who took Professor Lopez’s class claims that, "He stated that less than five percent of the population is homosexual, that it should be considered a mental illness and should be treated."

Now, the American Civil Liberties Union is getting involved.

They have sent a letter to the Fresno City College demanding action. The letter insists that the college uses only scientific information in health classes.

The letter gives the college a deadline as well. The college has until February 15th to comply with federal and state constitutional guidelines.
