LIBERTY, Mo. -- Synergy, a local non-profit, is visiting metro schools like Liberty Junior High to teach eighth graders the warnings of abusive teen relationships. Some teens are surprised by the statistics.
"You don't really realize just how many kids are affected by this kind of thing until it is shoved in your face," says Grace Bunton.
Bunton is one of the dozens of eighth grade boys and girls that have been taking the abuse awareness workshops since Christmas.
The classes focus on elements of a healthy relationship and of an unhealthy relationship, as well as how a teen's attitude toward self is important to their future relationships.
