KSU Leading in Green Sunflower Showdown

NEW YORK, NY - Some area colleges are competing in the America's Greenest Campus contest.

Colleges compete against each other in reducing their carbon footprint.

The nationwide contest has grown to more than 10,000 individuals and 450 colleges. The winner gets $20,000 in cash prizes.

After the first two months, Kansas State is ranked 73rd. The University of Kansas comes in at 117th.

Missouri State is 217th. The University of Missouri is not competing.

Leading the list as of Wednesday was the University of Maryland at College Park, which had reduced its CO2 omissions by 1.37 percent.
