OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Sprint's new, green, wireless phone made partly from corn is a first in the industry with the amount of recycled materials it contains.
The green phone offers e-mail, texting, camera and a Qwerty keyboard. The design and content are also environmentally focused, including a one-touch button which takes the user to green web content.
The phone, called the Samsung "Reclaim", is made of eco-friendly, recyclable materials. It will be available in Sprint stores on Aug. 16.
Also a plus is the new “Solio” charger, which charges any Sprint cell phone using just solar power.
When customers purchase the Samsung Reclaim, $2 of the proceeds will be donated by Sprint to the Nature Conservancy’s Adopt-an-Acre project, which supports land conservation across the U.S.
