OLATHE, Kan. – If you’ve been holding out on ‘going green,’ Johnson County has a day planned for you.
The County will host its first “Go Green, Save Green” Earth Day Wednesday May 27 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Sunset Drive Office Building, 11811 S. Sunset Dr., in Olathe.
County officials will offer ways to live environmentally-friendly while saving some money at Wednesday's event, which is free and open to the public.
Planned activities include eco-classes, tours of the LEED Gold-certified Sunset Building, informational booths hosted by community environmental organizations and county departments and a ceremonial tree planting.
Attendees are eligible for door prizes and an organic lunch will be available, with proceeds benefiting the county’s Feed the Need campaign to benefit 10 local food pantries.
