KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A Kansas City, Missouri Health Department announcement lists 10 school kitchens for going “above and beyond health code requirements to excel in sanitation and food safety.”
The schools had to meet strict criteria to make the list.
None of the “2008 Grade A Food Excellence Award” recipients had repeat food code violations during the year and none were allowed more than three critical violations during the year.
Of those that did have a violation, it was corrected on site during the inspection.
To qualify, dining staff also had to have food safety certification and there could be no reports of food-borne illness at the establishment during the year.
