BOSTON - Most medical experts will tell you the best way to keep your heart healthy is to eat right, exercise and don’t smoke. And if you are trying to lower your cholesterol, a healthy diet is a must, but just what exactly should you eat?
The Harvard Medical School newsletter has some ideas. The experts there say eating oats is an easy first step to improving cholesterol. Add a banana or other fruit and you make it even better.
Barley and other whole grains are good ways to help lower cholesterol along with beans, eggplant and okra, although fried okra may be going a bit too far. Nuts, fruits, soy and fatty fish are also great for the heart.
