KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A safe Halloween celebration for families in Kansas City, Missouri's Northeast neighborhood.

The "16th annual Halloween in Historic Northeast" event is being held by the Kansas City Museum.

The Scarritt Renaissance Neighborhood Association and the Museum will team up to satisfy the taste buds of the spooky ghosts and goblins from 5 to 8 p.m. (or until the candy runs out!) on Saturday, Oct. 31.

The Museum and 10-15 “safe houses” along Gladstone Boulevard will be open for trick-or-treating.

Museum staff will be located at the South Gate handing out tasty Halloween treats.

Many homes will be transformed into eerily decorated “haunted houses,” and the neighborhood will have costumed entertainers “skulking around.”

The spirit world is abuzz about the Long Family’s plans to “creep about” their former home, Corinthian Hall.

There will also be special effects, music, and of course, lots of candy.

The Museum will also host its first “Princess Costume Contest” at the southeast corner of the Museum.

With an entry fee of only entrants’ mailing and e-mail addresses, princesses, with their parent’s permission, will be photographed in their beautiful princess costumes.

Winners will be selected by members from the Friends of Kansas City Museum and the Kansas City Museum’s Fairy Princess, who will be making a special appearance before she assumes her throne this December at the Museum.

This safe Halloween event is free.
