KANSAS CITY, Kan. - BPU customers can look forward to a break on this winter’s heating bills.
On Tuesday, The Kansas City Board of Public Utilities announced its fuel and energy recovery charge for this winter will be adjusted downward by 18.6 percent.
This decrease will lower the average BPU residential customer electric bill by approximately $4.86 per month.
The charge, known as the Energy Rate Component, or ERC, changes every six months and is based on the actual fuel and purchased power costs that BPU pays.
