KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A test program at Kansas City area Target Stores is offering 5% discounts off nearly all new and future purchases when customers use Target's charge card.
It’s common for stores to offer discounts off one initial purchase with a new card, but Target spokesman Eric Hausman says the test program allows customers to continue recieving the 5% discount for nearly unlimited future purchases.
“As of right now, it’s a test program that we’re running in Kansas City,” Hausman said. “We’re trying this out and hopefully we’ll be able to expand it further.”
Hausman says dependent upon the test marketing success the discount could be permanent in Kansas City and expanded to other areas.
Right now the discount is limited to Kansas City metro Target stores.
The discount applies to users of the store’s Visa card, charge card, and a check card which is attached to customer’s bank account.
Prescriptions funded by government insurance, gift cards, and some other items are excluded from the deal.
Applications for the discount charge cards are available at metro Target stores only.
The 5% discounts are not valid on the company’s website or at Targets outside the metro.
