K-Mart Black Friday Ad is now available online through Black-Friday.net. We also found the
Lowe's Black Friday Ad.
Reported Nov. 2, 2009
KANSAS CITY, Mo – It’s November. That means it’s almost time for turkey and gravy, cranberry sauce (that everybody pretends they like but nobody touches), and falling asleep on the couch watching football.
But for millions—and I mean millions—of Americans, November means one thing: No, not Christmas music.
I’m talking about Black Friday.
Yes, that dreaded/beloved pseudo-holiday; that post-turkey-day shopping binge, where everything in sight is discounted to unbelievable prices, and people whip out their cell phones to capture grainy video of people getting trampled in shopping mall doorways. And it’s all in the name of value.
And just like that Christmas music, every year Black Friday seems to creep upon us a little bit sooner.
Sites like
Black-Friday.net and
BFads.net offer up-to-date listings, blog-style, of the latest Black Friday deals. (Some sites require registration, but hardcore deal-hunters probably won’t care.)
So far this Black Friday Season, we’ve already had one scandal:
And early version of an Office Max Black Friday ad was leaked online in later October,
reportedly full of typos and bad grammar, but BF Ads, who had posted a link to it, later pulled the page down and replaced it with a Cease and Desist letter from Office Max’s lawyers.
A few days later an
ad from Sears was released—apparently on purpose—and lit up the blogosphere. Now, to take advantage of the ever-growing Black Friday Craze, the company is offering what they’re calling a “Black Friday NOW!” sale: Every week starting now, until the inevitable day of discounts (and continuing through December), Sears will offer one of its advertised items at the Black Friday price.
But you just can’t stop the deals.
Gander Mountain, an outdoors company, has also posted
their own Black Friday ad, and said they will be open with special deals on Thanksgiving Day, as well.
As the weeks progress, expect more and more companies to jump on the early-ad bandwagon—either by their own hand, or the crafty hands of vigilant bloggers everywhere.
