KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The economy has many people falling behind on their utility bills. Now, KCP&L officials are launching a new program to help them.
It is called Connections. It is designed to help people get on a budget plan and offer ways to reduce energy use in the home.
KCP&L officials admit they do not like cutting the power off to people’s homes, and say it is not an economic solution to any problem.
"It's not economical for us to send people out to disconnect service it's not something we want to do. we want to help customers stay on their electricity, keep their service on to the greatest extent possible," said Chuck Caisley, Public Affairs Director for KCP&L.
KCP&L is also offering a home energy audit that can help people get $1200 in rebates from KCP&L and Missouri Gas Energy.
