KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Many people in our area can expect to see lower heating bills this winter.

Missouri Gas Energy announced Thursday the state’s Public Service Commission approved its request to lower the price of wholesale natural gas.

According to the MGE announcement, the new price will be the lowest rate in 7 years.

The new rate will cost $0.69 per hundred cubic feet, 25 cents less than the 2008 winter rate.

The new winter rate is expected to save the typical MGE customer $20 a month over last year.
