INDEPENDENCE, Mo. – Officials at Comcast say they made employees aware of a “tough decision” Tuesday.
Sr. Manager of Corporate Affairs Dave Nyberg tells NBC Action News the company cut jobs at their Independence call center, affecting less than 50 people.
The affected employees were informed during a meeting Tuesday. The cuts take effect immediately.
“Comcast remains committed to the Kansas City area,” Nyberg said, adding the company is working with the laid-off workers to find other employment within the company, offering severance and outplacement assistance and even helping with resume writing and interview skills.
More than 200 employees remain at the company’s Independence-area operations, Nyberg said.
He said Tuesday’s cuts were in the best interest of their customers, saying Comcast can better serve them by consolidating some operations at the center to a regional center in St. Paul, Minn.
