UNDATED - The troubled economy makes selling your house harder than ever.
NBC Action News' parent company Scripps Howard Broadcasting is joining Angie's List in offering these tips:
Provide your realtor with good photos and descriptors for their website.
Make sure your house has good curb appeal with a clean front yard and front door.
Try to represent the neighborhood. If there are a lot of families, make the bedrooms seem kid-friendly. If it has more singles, turn one bedroom into an office.
Clear out the clutter. Make sure your closets are empty.
And remove personal items like photos. Keep in mind, a buyer wants to see themselves in that house and if they spend time looking at the photos all they can imagine is your family in the house.
