KANSAS CITY, Mo. - With thousands of american workers getting the pink slip every week, many people are desperate for income.

Now, scam artists are cashing in and taking advantage of unsuspecting job seekers.

Better Business Bureau officials are warning people about one job offer you may receive that offers you high paying rebate processing jobs.

According to several web sites, you earn $15 for every rebate you process in the comfort of your home, and shows you could earn anywhere between $8,000 - $10,000 a month.

Jan Matthews paid $80 for a kit to process FedEx and UPS rebates and refunds a few years ago.

But Jan soon found it was almost impossible to find any refunds to process.

"What they didn't tell you was you had to fax a letter to all these companies. You had to fax at least 100 a day," said Matthews.

What You Need To Know About The Scam

First, according to the BBB, it is almost impossible to make money processing refunds and rebates.

Second, these companies may appear to be affiliated with Home Depot, Hewlett Packard, and others, but they are not.

Finally, most complaints involve the following sites rebateprocessorjobs.com and processathome.com and are most times run by "Cindy Dalton" and "Angel Stevens."

The BBB said none of these companies actually give you any rebates or refunds to process, and instead you have to advertise to get any business, and most people end up with nothing.
