KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Zhu Zhu Pet craze has hit the Christmas season, but there are ways to find the must have toy.
The tiny robotic toy hamsters go from $8 to $9, but no one has them stock and third party vendors are charging a fortune for the little hamsters.
Frustrated parent Heather Kacachos says, "At Walmart they were $8 a piece, however at Amazon they were triple that price. I was like what's going on here?"
Heather found Amazon sellers asking $25 for the Zhu Zhu Hamster in early November, but now in December they're asking $50 to $100 for the toy.
If you refuse to spend that kind of money, then you'll need to get aggressive. It's recommended to check toy and discount stores first thing in the morning. Another way is to sign up for the
Toys R Us email club. Recently members found out there would be 50 of the hamsters for sale early November 29th.
If that doesn't work, then maybe a knock off would work. The Cracker Barrel Country stores are selling a similar robotic hamster for $9.
