KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- You want to make sure you ask plenty of questions before buying last minute presents at mall kiosks this holiday shopping season.
Every year, complaints are made about the products sold at mall kiosks. Leaving many wondering, why do malls allow kiosks?
It’s because they are convenient for busy shoppers and generate more than $10 billion a year.
Shannon Long bought a toy helicopter that broke Christmas Day after flying for about 2 minutes, but when she tried to return it the kiosk was gone.
The stories don't stop there. Vickie Hiudt bought roller shoes that broke. "I went to the kiosk just a couple of days later, and was told no returns, no refund of your money," says Vickie.
Another thing to look out for is cell phone kiosks. Most times they are not really connected with the cell phone provider because many of them are independent dealers.
If the kiosk closes and you have a problem with your cell phone, the carrier is not required to give you a new phone.
The best thing to do before buying is too ask questions about return policies and what happens when they close up and move.
