KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Chiefs officials aren’t the only ones looking into Larry Johnson’s remarks.
The Chiefs running back could be in hot water with the NFL and a gay rights group is urging league officials to take action after he reportedly dropped homosexual slurs on two different occasions in the last 24 hours.
NFL spokesperson Greg Aiello said on Monday night that the league is in the process of getting all the facts in the Johnson situation. That’s according to www.profootballtalk.com.
ESPN's Senior NFL Analyst Chris Mortensen also cited a league official in saying Johnson's alleged homophobic remarks are "on our radar."
The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation is also demanding action. GLAAD President Jarrett Barrio is asking that the NFL do something.
“All too often this is the word that is used to ridicule and harass young gay and transgender athletes on local sports fields across America,” Barrio told TMZ. “Professional athletes who use this word need to be held accountable for feeding a climate of intolerance toward our community. NFL officials need to take action and condemn this and future uses of this anti-gay epithet.”
On Monday afternoon, multiple media outlets heard Johnson use the slur to send reporters away from his locker. That’s after he used a homosexual slur to attack someone on Twitter.
