KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs have received hardly any good news lately. But that changed on Tuesday.

The NFL named safety Mike Brown the AFC Defensive Player of the Week. He becomes the first Chiefs safety to win the award since Jerome Woods in 1997. Brown won the NFC Defensive Player of the Week honor with Chicago in 2001.

The 5-foot-10 Brown had a career-high two interceptions to go with a personal-best four passes defended in the Chiefs 16-10 victory at Oakland last Sunday. Both interceptions came against Raiders quarterback Bruce Gradkowski.
