KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs have a new wide receiver. On Tuesday, the team was awarded Chris Chambers on a waiver claim. The San Diego Chargers released Chambers on Monday.
The 5-foot-11, 210 pound Chambers played for the Chargers from 2007-09. He competed in 31 games with San Diego, catching 77 passes for 1,139 yards with 10 touchdowns.
Chambers came to the Chargers in a trade with Miami. He played for the Dolphins from 2001-2007. In 100 games with the Dolphins, Chambers caught 405 passes for 5,688 yards with 43 touchdowns.
Overall, Chambers has played in 131 games and made 111 starts. He has caught 482 passes for 6,827 yards with 53 touchdowns and rushed 44 times for 373 yards. He also owns 36 kickoff returns for 811 yards.
The 31-year-old Chambers entered the NFL as a second-round pick of Miami in the 2001 draft. The Cleveland, Ohio native played collegiately at Wisconsin. He was a two-time all-state performer at Bedford High School in Bedford, Ohio.
