KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs made a surprising trade on Monday evening.

They sent Tank Tyler to the Carolina Panthers for an undisclosed draft pick in 2010. The defensive tackle was playing second string to Ron Edwards.

For Tyler, it’s a chance to play near his hometown. Tyler is from Fayetteville, North Carolina and he played for North Carolina State.

Tyler had 22 tackles, including 20 solo tackles in six games this season. He only started two of them.

The Chiefs drafted Tyler in the third round of the 2007 NFL draft.

Since General Manager Scott Pioli took the reigns of the franchise after last season, he has traded several players for future draft picks.

We want to know what you think about Pioli's moves. Post your comments below.
