GAME UPDATES

4th Quarter

The Jacksonville defensive prevented any Chiefs scoring early in the quarter, leading to a slew of punts, one of which the Jags returned for 44 yards, deep into Chiefs territory.

Jones-Drew didn’t let the opportunity slip away, driving through Chiefs’ tacklers for a 12-yard touchdown run, extending the lead to 24-6.

The Chiefs wouldn’t give up, as Matt Cassel connected with newly acquired wide receiver Chris Chambers for a 54-yard touchdown reception cut the deficit to 24-13.

Things got even better for Kansas City as they recovered the onside kick and drove the ball down the field for another score, connecting again with Chambers for a five-yard touchdown. The Chiefs converted a two-point conversion to cut the lead to just three points.

But the Chiefs wouldn’t get any closer, falling by a final score of 24-21.

3rd Quarter

Both teams traded possessions early in the third quarter.

An offensive pass interference penalty by Dewayne Bowe stifled any momentum the Chiefs had on their second drive of the quarter, forcing another punt.

Jaguars wide receiver Sims-Walker struck again with a 45-yard gain, which led to a Jacksonville 27-yard field goal, giving them a 17-6 lead near the end of the third quarter.

SCORE: Jacksonville 17, Chiefs 6

2nd Quarter

Despite big plays by the Chiefs defense, the Chiefs and Jacksonville traded possessions for most of the 2nd quarter before Chiefs safety DuJuan Morgan recovered a fumble by Jaguars WR Torry Holt deep in Jacksonville territory.

The turnover led to a 21-yard field goal from Succop to bring the score within one.

Once again, Jacksonville would call the Chiefs field goal and responded with a touchdown, this time on a 61-yard touchdown pass between Garrard and WR Mike Sims-Walker, giving the Jags a 14-6 lead.

SCORE: Jacksonville 14, Chiefs 6

1st Quarter

After taking the ball down field on their first possession, kicker Ryan Succop converted a 45-yard field goal to give the Chiefs an early 3-0 lead. It was the first time the Chiefs had scored on their opening possession all season.

Jacksonville would respond however with a 28-yard TD by Jaguars RB Rashard Jennings.

The Jaguars kept up their big play power when they got out of the third-and-long deep in their own territory with a 33-yard pass to WR Jarrett Dillard on third down.

SCORE: Jacksonville 7, Chiefs 3.
