KANSAS CITY, Mo.- The Chiefs continue to shake up their coaching roster. The team announced two hires and several departures.
The most notable move involves Clancy Pendergast. He will not be returning to the team next season. Pendergast was the defensive coordinator last season. The Chiefs have hired Romeo Crennel to serve in that capacity this coming year. Head coach Todd Haley was hoping to keep Pendergast as an assistant. However, the two sides decided to part ways.
The team has also fired Dedric Ward. He was the receivers coach last season. Also, tight ends coach Bob Bicknell is leaving Kansas City to join Chan Gailey's staff in Buffalo.
Richie Anderson will take over as the Chiefs receivers coach. He spent last year with the team as part of the NFL's minority coaching fellowship program. Anderson played in the NFL as a fullback for 13 seasons. He previously worked as a tight ends/assistant wide receivers coach with the New York Jets.
Anthony Pleasant also spent last season with the Chiefs as part of the minority coaching fellowship program. He is a former NFL defensive lineman. Pleasant will help out the defense as an assistant.
