4th Quarter

San Diego knocked on the end zone door step again at the start of the quarter, but a fumble by Tomlinson gave the ball back to the Chiefs.

But Cassel, trying to elude a sack, was called for intentional grounding in said end zone, which led to a Chargers safety and a 40-14 lead.

The safety also led to three more Charger points on a field goal, extending the lead to 43-14.

And that would be the end of the scoring.

FINAL SCORE: San Diego 43, Chiefs 14

3rd Quarter

The start of the second half started the same way as the end of the first half with another Kansas City turnover, leading to the Chargers’ 5th touchdown of the day, a Tomlinson rush, making the score 35-7.

But the Chiefs showed some fight, with key plays to Charles, culminating in a Charles rushing touchdown to cut the lead to 35-14.

The Chargers kept coming though when kicker Nate Kaeding drilled a 55-yard FG to put the Chargers up 38-14.

SCORE: San Diego 38, Chiefs 14

2nd Quarter

A big run by back Jamaal Charles, aided by a 15-yard facemask penalty, gave the Chiefs a 45-yard gain, leading to a Chris Chambers touchdown reception to tie the game at 7-7.

The tie wouldn’t last long, as the Chargers responded when LaDanian Tomlinson converted a one-yard rush for a touchdown to give San Diego the lead again, 14-7.

The Chiefs were on the move again until Charles fumbled the ball, giving San Diego good field position.

The turnover led to Gates’ second touchdown reception of the day, extending the lead to 21-7.

Things didn’t get better for the Chiefs, when Matt Cassel fumbled the ball before a throw, leading to a Chargers touchdown, breaking the game open, 28-7.

SCORE: San Diego 28, Chiefs 7

1st Quarter

The Chiefs defense held it’s own through most of the first quarter, but an untimely interception by Chargers cornerback Quentin Jammer set San Diego up with good field position, leading to a touchdown pass to Antonio Gates, giving the Chargers the first score, 7-0.

Kansas City didn’t snatch back the momentum, giving the ball back on a three and out possession before the quarter ended with the Chargers driving down the field.
