KANSAS CITY, Mo.- The Chiefs have a fresh set of legs. Kolby Smith has been activated from the Physically-Unable-to-Perform List. The team released Bobby Engram to clear a roster spot.
Smith has been out of action for more than a year. He suffered a knee injury on Nov. 2, 2008 against Tampa Bay. That ended his season. He has been rehabbing ever since.
Smith has played in 23 games with the Chiefs. He has 147 career rushes for 507 yards. Smith may see some limited action against Jacksonville. The Chiefs are short-handed in the backfield due to the suspension of Larry Johnson.
Engram only played in five games for Kansas City this year. He caught five passes for 61 yards.
