CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The next time you head into your kitchen, you may want to check out your slow cooker. Instead of cooking a meal, some Crock Pot owners are cooking up a disaster.

A slow cooker is supposed to be an easy way to cook. But, it's turning into a dangerous one.

Laurel Jones says she went to remove the handle to stir the food inside her Rival Crock Pot when the lid fell from her hand.

There are hundreds of complaints about this from across the country.

When Jones called to complain, Rival Crock Pot sent her a new one since her old one was still under warranty.

Two months later, Jones ran into the same problem all over again.

This time she tried a do it yourself fix. You can go to a hardware store and buy a new handle and screw it onto the glass top.

There was a recall on the side handles for Crock Pots manufactured between January 1999 and September 2004.

There is not currently a recall on the top lid handle.
