KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Shon Pernice, the husband of a missing Northland woman presumed dead by authorities, was arrested Thursday morning at his home.
He was arrested without incident at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at his Kansas City home.
Shon is being held at the Clay County Jail on a $250,000 dollar bond.
A grand jury indicted Shon on Tuesday, but it was not made public until Thursday's arrest. The indictment charges Pernice with two counts of class A misdemeanor child endangerment in the second degree plus two counts of class C felony tampering with a witness.
The indictment found probable cause that Pernice had tampered with two witnesses in his previous case involving stealing of a firearm. Pernice allegedly threatened one of the witnesses in an attempt convince both to decline to testify in the case. He then allegedly called police and stated, "I will kill them", and, "I am now prepared to protect myself."
The
incident which led to the indictment occurred on July 4, 2009, after which he was arrested for disturbing the peace.
A motion was filed with the court to revoke Pernice's bond. The filing states, "upon showing the defendant poses a danger to a crime victim, the community, or any other person, the court may use such information in determining the appropriate amount of bail, to increase the amount of bail, to deny bail entireley or impose any special conditions with the defendant and surety shall guarantee".
This isn't the first time Shon was arrested after his wife's disappearance. Earlier this year he was arrested for gun theft charges and disturbing the peace.
His wife, Renee Pernice, has been missing since Jan. 2 from her North Kansas City home. He has not been arrested or charged in the disappearance of his wife.
In February, the Clay County Prosecutor’s office said the missing person case was going to proceed as a death investigation.
In a report released in January, police say they found blood in Renee’s garage and divorce papers in her office.
The report also states that Shon gave conflicting stories about when she disappeared.
