KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Royals have traded Mark Teahen to the Chicago White Sox, the team confirmed Friday in a news release.
Reports of the trade surfaced Thursday, but both the White Sox and Royals stayed mum about the topic throughout the day.
In exchange, the Royals will get second baseman Chris Getz and third baseman Josh Fields, plus cash consideration.
Teahen hit .271 with a career high 34 doubles in 2009. He also added 12 homers and 50 RBI, appearing in 144 games. He is a career .269 hitter in five seasons in Kansas City.
