KCK Building Evacuated for Bomb Threat

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Police evacuated a downtown KCK building after someone called in a bomb threat. But after a thorough search, nothing suspicious turned up.

The call was received at the police communications center just after 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. The caller stated there is a bomb inside the building at 812 N. Seventh St.

The building is next door to the Wyandotte County courthouse.

Only the building matching the threatened address was evacuated. Officers conducted a floor-by-floor search in conjunction with evacuations.

Edwin Burch of the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department said nothing suspicious turned up.

Streets were blocked off around that building as authorities searched the building

Activity at the courthouse was not interrupted.

The building was expected to be cleared by 5:30 p.m.
