KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Jackson County Prosecutor announced charges Friday afternoon in the killing of a woman, her boyfriend and her two young nephews inside her Raytown apartment.
Jim Kanatzar announced a grand jury indictment in the case against 24-year-old Gevante Anderson. Kanatzar said he has requested bond be denied for Anderson. Anderson was arrested in his Kansas City home Friday morning. He has been charged with four counts of murder, five counts of armed criminal action and first degree burglary.
Watch the Entire Press Conference HereKanatazar said Anderson had a previous relationship with one of the victims, 33-year-old Precious Triplett.
Triplett, her boyfriend 33-year-old Andre Jones, and her nephews, 10-year-old Amir Clemons and 7-year-old Gerard Clemons were found dead in a Raytown apartment on Monday, March 16, 2009.
According to the indictment, Anderson stabbed Gerard to death and shot the other three to death.
Triplett's 1-year-old child was also inside the apartment but was unharmed.
A donation from a local car dealer had increased the TIPS Hotline reward for information in the case to $3,500. Even though Anderson has been charged in this case, police are still looking for more information. If you have any information, call the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS.
During the investigation, Congresman Emanuel Cleaver and former Kansas City Mayor Pro Tem Alvin Brooks joined police and community activists to ask the public to help generate leads in the case.
Blue Ridge Elementary School recently dedicated its outdoor basketball courts to Amir and Gerard, who both played basketball there.
