Now we'll be able to do some more onsite testing,” Prudence Rexroat adds. “We'll be doing rapid flu this fall. Rapid strep. And we'll also be doing some onsite drug testing.”
They're also set up to give flu shots this fall. And they recently signed several contracts to provide employer sponsored health fairs.
"We have the ability to deliver all of the savings that a lot of employers are now doing, so doing cholesterol, blood glucose, which is a diabetic kind of a test, and a number of other kinds of testing that we can do," David Rexroat said.
MedExpress also added a new paternity test. Prudence says it is a fraction of the cost of standard tests:
"And now we're also offering the Peace of Mind, which is for those people who don't necessarily need the court document, they don't need it for child custody or child support or that type of thing, but they still want to know."
The Rexroats look forward to more storefront exposure. A Sonic just opened in the Southridge Retail Center. A car wash is just about ready to roll. While they don't anticipate a lot of drop-ins, they look forward to the extra eyes on their signage.
“We would like to see more traffic,” David says. “This retail center is starting to get some tenants.”
Perhaps the biggest sign that MedExpress Labs is moving forward, the Rexroats are currently negotiating a lease for their second location. David says they have been very careful because of the economy:
“We were pretty gung ho when we talked back in March that we were going to move pretty quickly, but we've decided to be careful, make sure we've got the right arrangements, got the right place."
Next up – they are closely watching President Obama’s health care plan. Much remains to be seen. But the Rexroats expect the proposed reform will definitely affect their business -- in one way or another.
