Manna Nutrition Helps People Live Well

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Good health comes from many sources.  For over 30-years, a family owned business called Manna Nutrition, has been serving up products and advice to keep people living well.

“My Mom and Dad started the business in 1978,” Dan Isbell explains.

Manna Nutrition focuses on quality nutritional products at affordable prices.  Just like manna was "bread from heaven" in the bible...  for 31 years, the Isbell family has been feeding their customers good health.

“Our customers range anywhere from senior citizens,” Dan says.  “We deal with a lot of teenagers, a lot of people who are active athletes.  We work with a lot of personal trainers.  We work with elderly home bound individuals.  More importantly, we work with a lot of post-op bariatric patients.”

Dan Isbell grew up in the business his parents, Joe and Cathy Isbell, started.  He started hanging around the store when he was 3 years old.

“I took my naps in the backroom and during the afternoon,” Dan reflects.  “I remember kindergarten, going to morning kindergarten and then coming here to work in the afternoons.”

The original store at 95th and Nall also had a vegetarian restaurant. After Dan's father passed away in 1986, Cathy Isbell continued to run the business until Dan bought her out in 1998 and they moved down the street. He still works side by side with his mom every day.

“Vitamin business is hard to find somebody that you can not so much trust, but somebody that you can feel to take care of your customers,” Dan says.

And that care is something Dan takes seriously. It's not just about selling products, but getting to know the customers and their needs -- to make sure they're taking the right things.

“We're concerned about people's health and helping them use their supplements and their products effectively so that they can heal,” he says. “That they can use the products in a sense that they do receive benefit from it.”

Over the years, Manna Nutrition has welcomed the next generation of customers, just as their customers have witnessed the next generation of the Isbell family take over. It's those continued relationships that keep the company going.

“It's always rewarding for me when they come back into the store and say 'Hey, this product that you recommended for me helped.' Or 'The advice that you gave me on this product really helps.'”
